OUR Story

OUR STORY

OUR Story

OUR STORY

At HOPE, everyone is welcome, nobody is perfect... anything is possible.

This past year HOPE celebrated its 19th birthday! Much has changed since Hope was started. Much has not. The vision for Hope was to embody, live out, and invite the community of Strathmore and its surrounding area to experience real and transforming hope which is found in Jesus Christ. This is still our vision. The dreams of Hope’s founding members continue to be lived out as we share hope with our friends, family, neighbours, classmates, and co-workers and we continue to dream about what that might look like today!

OUR CORE 5

Along the way we have seen 5 core areas of ministry (KIDS, STUDENTS, GROUPS, WORSHIP and MISSION) develop that shape our community. The environments and experiences they provide are not the sum of our life together, but they significantly form and organize it and provide space for us to live out our mission. They are the 5 buckets that many of our ministries and most of our life together flow from.

OUR LEADERSHIP // STAFF

Hope's Staff serves the community by providing weekly leadership, support, and encouragement to our community.

OUR LEADERSHIP // COUNCIL

As a Congregational Church, Hope's Members and its Annual Meeting (generally the last Sunday of February) are its highest authority. The Council is comprised of men and women affirmed by the community to provide ongoing spiritual and operational oversight of our ministries and mission together.

OUR DENOMINATION

HOPE is a member of The Evangelical Covenant Church is a rapidly growing multiethnic denomination in the United States and Canada with ministries on five continents of the world. Founded in 1885 by Swedish immigrants, the ECC values the Bible as the word of God, the gift of God’s grace and ever-deepening spiritual life that comes through a faith with Jesus Christ, the importance of extending God’s love and compassion to a hurting world, and the strength that comes from unity within diversity.

The Evangelical Covenant Church is: Evangelical, but not exclusive; Biblical, but not doctrinaire; Traditional, but not rigid; Congregational, but not independentAdapted from http://www.covchurch.org/who-we-are/beliefs/
