School Fuel surpasses 3,000 meals per day
In response to requests from the principals at Strathmore’s three public elementary schools, Hope Community is seeking to meet the daily need for breakfast for students across town. Please partner with us to show God’s love to these hungry kids - be Jesus’ hands and feet with us.
Each morning at the three elementary public schools in Strathmore, a small breakfast is offered for students who are hungry or did not eat breakfast. The request for a morning food program came directly from the principals of the school when they were interviewed by Children’s Ministries leaders last summer.
An organizational meeting in September 2010 quickly birthed an effort to suppply essential foods to 10 to 40 students per school per day. An amazing donation from a single donor to fund the program started a miraculous amount of other donations from local businesses and other interested individuals.
We are blessed to have many volunteers making School Fuel happen. At this time, half of the volunteers for the food program are from outside Hope’s community, for which we are very grateful. The program has received significant donations from school staff and words of gratitude from the administrators.
