Is there a challenge, struggle or circumstance that is part of your life right now? How are you dealing with it? Do you feel like you have a hold on things? Or do you feel as if things are spinning out of control?
Have you seen people who were strengthened in their faith through challenges and struggles. while others faith was weakened? What was the difference? Where is your faith today?
If you are going through a tough time right now, what words from others have been helpful? Hurtful? Where in scripture are you finding peace in the midst of your storm?
How helpful is it to you to know that God has loved you since the beginning of time? How does that knowledge give you strength?
Do you ever wrestle with discouragement in your faith? How can Paul’s words encourage you?
In good times and bad, what gives you courage and hope?
How does knowing that God is ultimately in control and that we have been chosen for salvation ( 2 Thess. 2:13) give us comfort and keep us from gibing into fear?
Thinking of your own situation today, write out Paul’s prayer for the church at Thessalonica, vs: 2:16-17 in your own words.
How might God use you to say or do something that will encourage someone who is going through a difficult time right now?
What can you do to encourage and strengthen yourself to “always do and say what is good” (2 Thess. 2:17)
Eternally righteous God,
Merciful Judge of all the living,
In Your love, You called us to share the Glory of Christ. Strengthen our hearts, in every good work and word, that we may be steadfast in Your ways and always believe Your truth. Amen
