Strathmore for Haiti

On Sunday, March 18, at 7 pm, Hope will be hosting a Coffee House & Auction Fundraiser Event to support the Mission Trip to Haiti in April.

Silent & live auction, music, specialty coffees, desserts by Lisa Hodder, guest speaker Josh Foat, and auctioneer Grant Klaiber.

A community initiative to improve the quality of life in Haut-Limbe, Haiti through the Ebenezer Clinic.

Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door and are available at Hope Church and M&M Meat Shops.

One week after the auction, we will be sending a group to Haute Limbe to carry out further plans to improve the quality of life in this village.

The Giving Tree

“I was fortunate enough to be part of a group in Haiti over the Easter Celebration. Sunday and was very surprised to be part of what happened. A message from the Pastor officially welcomed the Canadians and then the choirs and youth band began singing and playing. People from the congregation and choir members suddenly started cheering and danced their way to the front of the church waving money. They would tape dollar bills to the tree and the people would cheer. Others would place fruits or vegetables beside the tree.

“I was told that the offerings of money is used to help the people of this community and the food would be sold at the market to raise money as well. This church feeds the community, educates people, and is involved with almost everything in the community.

“While thinking of a way for people to donate to our friends, this “Giving Tree” came to mind. Although it may look different than in Haiti, the idea is the same. We know that every dollar put towards this tree is going directly to help our friends in Haiti.” —Ardis Foat
