Why Girls Night Out?

Being a girl is tough & being a teenager is one of the most difficult challenges to face young women.  The goal of Girls Night Out is to provide some guidance and assistance to the young women traversing this path.

While we often feel alone in our struggles, comfort can be found in those travelling the road with us, as well as in those who have gone before.  We seek to walk alongside our young women as they experience challenges, difficulties and joy.

Finally, although the Bible does not talk specifically about teenage girls, we believe that the Bible does have something to offer our teenagers as they travel this road, and we’d like to help them learn and understand just what that might be.

As you can see some of the topics and issues we’ll be discussing at Girls Night Out are pretty heavy and difficult - we feel that this makes it very important for us to talk about them.

Girls Night Out will be Tuesdays from 7 - 8:30 PM, starting Feb. 7.

Jr. High Girls will meet at Martin & Lynn Wahl’s 381 Strathford Cres.

Sr. High Girls will meet at Ryan & Corinne Tongs’ 119 Cambria Rd.

Girls Night Out will run approximately 8 - 10 weeks, or until mid-April.

Guys Night Out

Why Guys Night Out?

Our world has extremely high expectations of our young men - expectations that are nearly impossible to live up to.  The goal of Guys Night Out is to help our young men discern which of those expectations are worthwhile and which are unhealthy or damaging. 

Guys Night Out is about the journey of discovering what it means to be a godly young man.  This journey is laden with traps and hazards intended to distract us from the life God has for us, but it is possible to stay focused and walk closely with God throughout it.

The Bible has much to say as our young men make this journey.  It is the intention of Guys Night Out, and it’s mature, Christian male leaders to help unpack that a little, and to give them some direction along the road.

Hope annual family ski trip is Sunday Jan 29 - Wednesday Feb 1 at Nakiska.

Co-op offers day passes and the Delta Lodge Hotel has packages available.

Now open to all youth!  JR highers talk to Corinne if you want to go!  Also, On Tuesday, January 31 Pastor Corinne will be taking SR highers to join the skiing at Nakiska.  Cost will depend on how many go, so talk to Pastor Corinne as soon as possible if you’re interested!

Women of every age are invited to gather & get to know one another.  Thurs, Jan 19, 7 pm, at Sheila Bassen’s home (5 Maple Ridge Estates).  Please bring donations of empty plastic milk jugs, old blue jeans, and cotton material.  Also bring $10 for shipping and assembly.  We will be preparing supplies to ship to Africa that will be used to employ people to make shoes.  Check out www.solehope.com for more information.

Fri, Jan 6 & Sat, Jan 7 Prayer Conference with Brad Jersak   Listen Up!  Tuning in to the Voice of God.  Friday, 7 - 9 pm.  Sat, 10 - 12, 1:30 - 3:30 (lunch on your own).  Free to attend.  Come to all or any portion that you can.  A free will offering will be taken.

Tues, Jan 10, 7 - 9 pm Life Listeners with Dave Snider.  Come as a listener or a storyteller.  Everyone will be a participant.

Wed, Jan 11, 3:30 - 9 pm Family Prayer Centres  Drop in for a guided  experience for children and adults

Thurs, Jan 12, 7 - 9 pm Story Night

Fri, Jan 13 - Sat, Jan 14 24 hour Prayer Vigil at the church.  Sunset to sunset.  Sign up for a time in the lobby.

Sat, Jan 14, 7 - 8:30 pm Celebration Night worship

Sun, Jan 15, 12:30 pm Potluck  All are invited to stay after the service.   Everyone please bring a main dish AND if your last name begins with A - L: bring dessert   or   M - Z: bring salad.

Saturday, December 24 Christmas Eve Candlelight Services at 5:30 & 7:00 pm.  (There will be no childcare services provided during these services)

Sunday, December 25 No Service

Sunday, January 1 Worship Service at 11:00 am (There will be no Community Life time or childcare services available on this day)

December 26 - January 3 The Church office will be closed this week.  Mail can be dropped through the mail slot in the office doors.  Phone messages and email will be checked occasionally.

Join us on Monday, Nov 28, 7:00 pm, at Hope, to learn about what’s happening in the life of our church.   Topics will include a Visioning process update as well as the 2012 budget.

Hope is planning a mission trip to Haut Limbe, Haiti, on April 4 - 14, 2012.  If you’d like to know more, click here for an information sheet and an application form.  Deadline to apply is November 30, 2011.
