Haitian Artwork Fundraiser

There will be 4 pictures auctioned off on ebay, the first one starting on February 18. They were purchased from an artist in Cap Haitian, Haiti, by a member of a team from Hope Community Covenant Church who was there working on the medical clinic located in Haut Limbe, a rural community on Haiti’s northern coast. Hope Community has been sending teams and partnering with the clinic directly since 2001. This relationship started with Dr. Emanuel Mareus (Dr. Manno) who is from Haut Limbe. Dr. Manno  completed his medical schooling in the Dominican Republic and then returned to Haut Limbe to serve in the clinic with a vision of bringing medical aid to anyone who came, and treating those who do come with dignity and respect regardless of their social status. This was is a very different way than had been done in the past and, consequently, it has been a huge success. The clinic has grown and a new in-patient building that will house a maternity ward and surgical suite is currently under construction. The expansion project will, in essence, turn the clinic into a hospital and allow Dr. Manno and his staff to care for even more people. This expansion is significant because since the January 12 earthquake, there has been a tremendous  amount of people moving from Port-au-Prince to other areas, including Haut Limbe. Dr. Manno will continue to care for his community and all that come.

This fundraiser is your opportunity to help, and have a piece of Haiti to remind you of the great people there that are loving their community. Hope Community will be sending another team of 14 people to continue supporting and help advance construction of the clinic. This team will be in Haiti from April 1-9.  All proceeds from the paintings will go to the clinic to further construction and purchase supplies.
