Congregational Meeting

There will be a brief congregational meeting after the second service on Sunday, May 16, to affirm new Council members.  Please plan to attend.

Nominated for Council - 2 positions, 3 Year Terms (2010 – 2013)

Diane Berreth - I have been happily married for 19 years to Rod Berreth, a great man and awesome father.  I am the proud mom of three daughters - Ashley and Sydney (12 year old twins) and Kelly (our 9 year old).  I made the decision to follow Christ in 1981 when I was a teenager.  In order to deepen my faith, I attended Living Faith Renewal Centre - a practical Bible training facility located in Caroline, Alberta.  I spent one year studying and learning how to experience a deeper walk with Christ. After Bible School I worked in the local church in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.  In 1987 I went on to receive my Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan.  I ended up moving to Alberta in 1986 to work in the field of economic development/small business consulting.  In 1993 I made the decision to further my education with a Masters degree in Business from the University of Calgary.  After 7 long years of juggling university classes, a part time career, young twin daughters and a third on the way, I convocated in 2000.  In 2009 I decided to retire from my career and vest myself as a full time mom.  It has been a wonderful experience and a decision with no regrets.  I enjoy volunteering in the girls elementary and junior high schools.  I am currently serving as the church treasurer at Hope as well as in the community, specifically on a local investment board in Strathmore. I enjoy running, golf, cooking, entertaining, gardening, and studying the Word with a group of ladies.  I am honoured to have my name even mentioned as a potential Council member and it’s a commitment I take very seriously.  I believe in the work of God at Hope and would enjoy being part of the leadership team that will help set the strategic direction of the church.

Robert Rudolf - I grew up in Toronto.  From Grades 7 to 13, I was educated in an Anglican private school.  I graduated from the University of Toronto in English and worked for several years in the mining industry.  Following that I returned to university and obtained a teaching degree.

In 1981, I came to Alberta to teach in Hussar.  A couple of years later, I met Rosalie when she came to the school to teach and we were married the following summer.  About five years later, Jennifer was born, followed by Katie and then Gregory.  We lived on Brentwood Drive East in those days and Rosalie was a stay-at-home mom.

The kids are growing up now and we have moved to Cambria.  Jenn is in Nursing at Mount Royal, Katie in English at U of C and Greg is in Grade 10 at the High School.  They have all passed us.  I am still in Grade 7 and Rosalie Grade 2.

We have a varied church background.  Rosalie attended Foothills Mennonite church in her youth.  Then, at Hussar we belonged to the Lutheran church.  In Strathmore, we belonged to the United Church, then the Alliance Church and then in 2000 (I think), we joined Hope.

I am glad to let my name stand for the Council at Hope.  God has been very good to me in my life and Hope has a very fresh attitude towards living out the Christian life.

Affirmation to Extend Council Term

Though Ralph Tuck and Rod Peterson have also finished their three year terms, we have asked them to extend their service for one and two years respectively in order to prevent such a large turn over on Council at one time.

Ralph Tuck (1 year extension) - Born and raised near the south coast of England (Blandford, Dorset).

I attended college, studying Business Management.  During my last year in college I met the beautiful young lady, Allison, who would become my wife.

We have four children:  Gemma, Kathryn, Joshua, and Leah.

In 1989, we moved to Canada – Brooks originally and, one year later, Strathmore.

I am currently employed as a Senior Territory Manager (fancy name for sales rep) for Pfizer Animal Health.  I sell drugs for a living!

As a family, we have attended Hope for over ten years.  Hope is the place where I was reminded of the commitment I made to God as a teenager and the place where my life was rededicated to Christ.

Rod Peterson (2 year extension) - Yes, I am married with kids.  Five, in fact.  Yes, I am very old.  I think I am more than fifty, but I am still very strong.

I love music and have worked in a recording studio.  Now that was fun!!

My family and I moved from Vancouver to Strathmore in 2000.  I know, I’m not that smart.  Actually, we love it here!!!  Four of our five children have graduated here.  I came to Strathmore because of a transfer but now I am happily self-employed.

My family and I love Hope and look forward to serving you this year.
