Marriage

God intends marriage to reflect the joyful intimacy of His own eternal community. And as marriage is always between two broken people, God also intends it to display His redeeming power to a broken world and a culture that is often anything but helpful to committed relationships.

Hope’s marriage ministry comes alongside couples through premarital counseling, The Marriage Course, an annual weekend marriage retreat, and by creating opportunities for meaningful connections between married couples in the context of Life Groups and other smaller gatherings.

Getting Married at Hope
Our pastors officiate weddings and our building is available for these momentous life celebrations. Contact the office to talk about possibilities with a pastor and check out our facilities.

Premarital Counseling
if you are getting married by pastor from Hope, he or she will ask you to have premarital counseling. This can be done with the pastor or with a professional counselor, such as Karen Bayley (see below).

The Marriage Course
This is a ten-week course designed to help any married couple strengthen their relationship. It’s a great opportunity to spend time together as a couple looking at the important issues in your marriage. The Marriage Course (now being run in 60 countries) is very practical and will help equip you with the tools needed to build a healthy marriage that lasts a lifetime. Each week you are given the opportunity to enjoy a special meal together and listen to a talk. Then there is plenty of time to discuss the topic as a couple. There is no group work involved at any stage of the course. (Led by Amber & Kevin Link)

Marriage Retreat
The marriage retreat is a fun low risk place for couples to connect with each other. It is held annually on the first weekend of November, usually in Banff.
